Hey there, I’m Nicole Haddad, my friends called me Nico.
I'm an artist currently living in the Sacramento area.
My Work
My preferred style of creation is to tap into a stream of consciousness flow and let my soul speak through my art, releasing unexpected deep imagery and emotion. Sometimes I use references, but a lot of times I don't. Consequently, you may see similar characters or images that look like me in my art.
My work includes a lot of faces, women’s bodies, words, expressive bold lines, brilliant colors – mostly two-dimensional and graphic, sometimes a little more realistic. I utilize a variety of media, my current favorites include acrylic paint and paint pens, ink, mixed media and digital.
My personal work is heavily influenced by my experience in my body as perceived through the looking glass – or how I believe others perceive me and how I’ve internalized that perception. It draws from the pursuit of attaining female embodiment on a physical and emotional level. Meaning the entanglement between fulfillment of external expectations and doing the exact opposite to set oneself free via the body and repressed feelings. Pain from love lost, not letting go and not living in one’s truth shows up as a powerful subconscious medium in my work, depicting undertones of sadness in full spectrum – from beauty to despair. Right now, I am focused on emotional exposure and how that leads to being truthful with oneself.
When I create for others, I bring my bold, expressive style into the work while honoring the vision or task ahead of me. My goal is to create art that connects people and provides a mirror into their own life’s journey.
